NORTH 1, GROUP 1
Hasbrouck Heights 3, Midland Park 2 (at HH) Ervin Gjeli and Nick Bini scored second-half goals to rally No. 1 Hasbrouck Heights from a halftime deficit to turn back 16th-seeded Midland Park, 3-2, in a North 1, Group 1 first-round boys soccer game Tuesday at Hasbrouck Heights.

The Aviators will host eighth-seeded Boonton in the sectional quarterfinals Friday.

Junior forward Gjeli scored with 30 minutes left off an assist from senior outside midfielder Kyle O’Conner to tie the game at 2. Bini, a junior forward, scored with eight minutes left on an assist from Gjeli to break the tie. Gjeli has 42 goals and 11 assists this season, and 60 goals and 21 assists for his 1½-year career. He owns the single season and career record for goals at the school.

“Give Midland Park full credit; they play a very tough schedule and they gave us all we could handle today,” said Hasbrouck Heights coach Vinnie Marchese said. “We put an extra forward up top [going from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2 alignment] so we could put extra pressure on in the second half.”

Hasbrouck Heights improved to 12-3-2 as Midland Park, which had goals from Matt Genao and Rob Rodak in the first half, dropped to 5-11-2.

PARK RIDGE 2, SADDLE BROOK 0 (at Park Ridge): Kevin Yu and James Bargmann each scored a goal and Dan Confreda made nine saves to send the sixth-seeded Owls past the 11th-seeded Falcons.

WALDWICK 5, CEDAR GROVE 1 (at Waldwick): James Noyes and Griffin Price each scored two goals and had an assist, and Riley Toolen had two assists to power the seventh-seeded Warriors past the 10th-seeded Panthers.

KINNELON 2, WOOD-RIDGE 1 (at Wood-Ridge): Drew Thiem and Greg Poposki had a goal apiece to lift the 14th-seeded Colts as they stunned the third-seeded Blue Devils. Brian Govlick made five saves for Kinnelon.

BOONTON 3, NEW MILFORD 1 (at Boonton): Nicholas Navarro and Bryan Ohlott each had a goal and an assist to push the eighth-seeded Bombers past the ninth-seeded Knights.

NORTH 1, GROUP 2

ELMWOOD PARK 2, WALLKILL VALLEY 0 (at Elmwood Park): Andrew Andrach and Kristian Trajceski each had a goal, and Christian Andrach made six saves to lift the sixth-seeded Crusaders past the 11th-seeded Rangers.

POMPTON LAKES 4, DUMONT 1 (at Pompton Lakes): Matt Horn had two goals and Michael Magyar two assists to move the fifth-seeded Cardinals past the 12th-seeded Huskies.
