The Rutherford boys tennis team had some great chances to have the driver’s seat for the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Colonial Division title.

But instead the Bulldogs lost to Glen Rock and Pompton Lakes and will need to beat both teams the second go-around. The Bulldogs lost both matches 4-1, but head coach Mike Mayerczak believes his team could have won both matches. Rutherford travels to Glen Rock on Monday and then hosts Pompton Lakes on May 8.

The Bulldogs were 4-3 overall as of last week with the other loss coming in an NJIC crossover, to Park Ridge, April 1, 3-2. Rutherford defeated Eastern Christian, 5-0, last Wednesday sweeping two sets in each match.
