RUTHERFORD – Rutherford’s softball team knew it was not going to be easy this season with a young inexperienced team.

But with a balanced North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Colonial Division, the Lady Bulldogs were in first place at the end of last week but with several games remaining in the division.

Unlike the NJIC Colonial Division in baseball where Pompton Lakes is the dominant team, the Colonial softball division does not have a dominant team. The Lady Bulldogs had been the dominant team in softball in the division the previous two years by going without a loss.

But for this season, Rutherford head coach Helen Antzoulides had a team that had graduated almost all of its starting players.
