Last year in the Hudson County quarterfinals, Secaucus routed Marist by more than 20 points. This year, the result was similar. With an improved Secaucus team and the higher stakes of the semifinal round, the Patriots cruised to a larger margin of victory.

The top-seeded Patriots showed off their fluid offense as they defeated the No. 4 Royal Knights, 75-41, in the Hudson County Tournament semifinals tonight at Saint Peter’s University. With the win, they remain undefeated this season.

“I thought we came out that first quarter and really played well, took good shots, we were really shooting well from the perimeter. But our pressure was good, our girls got the pace of the game in our favor,” Secaucus head coach John Sterling said. “Our game plan is the same it always is. We want to play hard, play smart. We like a fast-paced game, so we extend full-court pressure and that gets the pace of the game the way we like to.”

Secaucus seniors Andie Lennon and Julia McClure were a formidable duo. Lennon led the Patriots in scoring with 26 points and McClure ended the day with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
