Tennis: Glen Rock’s Alex Mircea won the BCWCA Girls Tennis Small Schools Championship at first singles by defeating Alyssa Baldi of Mahwah 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday, September 30 at Northern Valley Regional HS at Old Tappan. Alex was the top seed of the tournament.
Cross Country: New Milford’s senior Kevin Teets opens his tri-meet season with a win over Pompton Lakes Migjen Istrefi and Dwight Englewood’s Marc Rosenberg.
Freshmen Haley McAveney lead the girls team placing fourth overall and 5th best all-time for New Milford at Garrett Mountain. McAveney ran away from the field at the Passaic County Coaches Invitational winning the Freshmen Girls race. Her performance helped the Lady Knights to a second place finish behind Governor Livingston.
Secaucus HS girls placed 3rd at the Stewart Memorial Meet at Warinanco Park. Samantha Nesheiwat set a school record for the 3.21 mile course with her 6th place finish in 21:49.The Patriot boys were 6th in the 14 team field. Shaun O’Brien set a school record for the Warinanco course with his time of 17:59. Lyndhurst boys were 2nd in the Varsity B Boys division at the Stewart Memorial. Bogota Boys were 1st in the Group-1 Division at the Passaic Coaches Invitational.
