Hasbrouck Heights  won the North 1, Group 1 for the second straight year and sixth time overall.

Led by seniors Kassie Ketcho, Monika Lucic and Giana DeLascio, the Aviators scored in every event but the 100 and 400 and held off a very good Wallkill Valley team, 132½-122.

Lucic, the Bergen County pentathlon champ who won the 100 and 400 hurdles, took second in the 800 and anchored the winning 4-x-800 team, talked about the same bond that the Ridgewood girls all spoke about.

“Being part of this team changed my life,’’ said Lucic. “It let me be with people I probably wouldn’t have become friends with in school and gave me so much self-confidence and saw how strong I can be.’’

For DiLascio, who also ran on the 4-x-800 and scored 10 points in the 1,600 and 3,200, the bond helped through some health issues that stymied her individual improvement.

“We really learn to do everything for each other,’’ said DiLascio. “Everybody supports everybody and it gets you through the hard times and helps you go forward.’’
