WOOD-RIDGE – Wood-Ridge High School head boys soccer coach Alberico DePierro was telling everybody that he thought his team could be .500 this season.

While for some soccer teams it might be considered lowering the bar, this was the first season for a varsity boys soccer team at Wood-Ridge.

“I was telling people that I thought that we could be at the minimum .500 for the season and they looked at me like I had five heads,” said DePierro.

Wood-Ridge finished exactly at .500 with a 9-9-2 overall record and 7-7-2 in the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference.
