Notes

Elmwood Park and Garfield were the pioneers of girls wrestling on Friday when they unofficially held one of the first dual meets in North Jersey history. The girls were introduced with the boys and then completed three bouts, under the spotlight, before the varsity match. While girls have participated in individual tournaments – including this year at the inaugural Bergen County invitational – the chance to compete as a team is the next step in the sport’s development.
