North Jersey girls soccer Super 25 gets new look as counties heat up | Exclusive

The days are getting shorter, but the stakes keep getting bigger in North Jersey girls soccer.
Championship weekend is on deck in Passaic County, where a crosstown rivalry takes center stage. Defending champion and fifth-seeded Wayne Hills will meet second-seeded DePaul on Saturday at Passaic Tech in the third straight county final between the programs. More on that to come.
Recent history is also a theme Saturday at the Bergen County semifinals. Top seed Ramsey will try to beat No. 5 Old Tappan for the second time this season in a rematch of last year’s semifinal, when the Rams pulled away for a 5-1 win. In the other semifinal, No. 2 Immaculate Heart takes on No. 3 Ridgewood after the teams played to draw in September.
They aren’t the only ones with plenty to play for. The state cutoff on Saturday gives teams on the bubble a few more days to strengthen their résumés. Entering Wednesday, five North Jersey teams led their respective sections in power points: Immaculate Heart, Saddle River Day, Hawthorne, Ramsey and Old Tappan.
This week’s North Jersey Super 25 rankings also feature a few notable changes. Old Tappan climbs from No. 6 to No. 3, while Fair Lawn surges from No. 19 to No. 14 after upsetting then-No. 2 Ridgewood. Northern Highlands returns to the rankings at No. 25 after avenging an earlier loss to Ramapo.
