EMERSON – Sam Schneider remembers one award he didn’t win.
“I never got the ironman award,” Schneider said Wednesday. “If you started wrestling in second grade and went all the way through eighth, when you graduated from rec [wrestling] you got the ironman award.”The 18-year old Emerson/Park Ridge wrestler didn’t officially start rolling around on the mat until third grade, missing out on the prize by a year.
This season, Schneider has won every time he’s stepped on the mat. Shhh! Yes, the senior is undefeated at 32-0 heading into the District 8 championships this weekend at River Dell. Schneider is also one win from setting the record for the program – he’s tied with his older brother, Steve, at 136.
