ELMWOOD PARK – The Elmwood Park boys basketball team had every reason to panic.
After holding NV/Demarest to six first-half points in Tuesday’s state playoff game and taking a comfortable lead into halftime, the Crusaders’ lead was down to two.
“Basketball’s a game of runs,” Elmwood Park forward Kristijan Todorovski said. “They went on their run and we had to stop them and go on ours.”
With 1:55 left in the third quarter, Todorovski stopped the Norsemen in their tracks with a high-arching three-pointer – the key shot in his team’s 40-31 victory. Todorovski scored a team-high 13 points and Marcus Picinich added 10 as the fifth-ranked Crusaders won their North 1, Group 2 opener.
