Emily Sivarak’s chances of a Bergen County tennis title were being held together by a few strips of white tape and a lot of determination.
The Dwight-Englewood freshman overcame a fractured right pinkie en route to winning the small-schools first-singles title Sept. 25.
The Record Female Athlete of the Week said the injury occurred when someone accidentally bumped into her the previous week. The finger was painful and swollen when she defeated Leonia’s Liya Davidov, 6-2, 6-1, in the final.
