The first week of the pandemic-shortened New Jersey high school basketball season is complete and almost two-thirds of the North Jersey boys’ teams played at least one game.

Lodi (3-0) was among three North Jersey Interscholastic Conference teams to play three games, defeating Manchester, Wallington and Fort Lee to debut at No. 24 in the Top 25

Ridgefield (2-0) rode a trio of underclassmen to wins over Palisades Park and New Milford. Sophomore G Monty Nedd Jr., a transfer from Bergen Catholic, is averaging 27.5 points and 9.0 rebounds. Junior Justin Price has been a leader and averaged 18.5 points and 9.0 rebounds, and fellow junior Jon Shaqiri has been a defensive standout and averaged 9.0 points and 5.5 assists.

“This is just the beginning,” said coach Lamarche White, whose team only won five games last season. “We have everybody coming back for next year.”
