EAST RUTHERFORD – Jessica Gasparino remained calm and composed despite facing early adversity. That patience earned dividends when she got stronger as the game went on and her teammates supplied some timely late-inning offensive support.
A sophomore left-hander, Gasparino worked out of several jams in the first four innings before settling down and finishing with a six-hitter as she helped Hasbrouck Heights to a 4-0 NJIC Meadowlands Division softball victory over Becton on Monday at the McKenzie School field.
“I know they have a very good hitting team and they were putting a lot of pressure on with several chances right at the start, but I was determined to keep them off the scoreboard,” Gasparino said. “I just bore down, got back into a good rhythm and I gained a lot of confidence.”
