Sophomore quarterback Michael Giancaspro threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score Saturday to lead the host Wood-Ridge football team to a 28-22 win against Queen of Peace, which kept the Blue Devils mathematically alive in the North 1, Group 1 playoff race.
Senior running back/linebacker Josh Paez also was instrumental in Wood-Ridge’s NJIC Patriot Division victory. Paez rushed for 148 yards on 25 carries, made eight tackles and returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter for the Blue Devils (4-3).
ST. MARY 42, BOGOTA 6 (at Rutherford): Senior tailback Derius Stone rushed for 307 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries for the Gaels on their way to a NJIC Patriot Division win.
