PISCATAWAY– The brilliant freshman season for Michlle Sidor continued on Sunday, as the rookie talent scored 33 points to lead Saddle River Day over Morris Catholic 61-57 in the North Jersey, Non-Public B semifinals.

With the win, the Rebels will play in their first sectional championship contest in school history and they have their first-year superstar to thank.

Sidor was on fire at the RAC at Rutgers University, particularly in the second quarter, where she scored 15 of her 33 points.

The Rebels entered the second trailing 22-17, but Sidor took the game into her own hands and helped Saddle River Day enter halftime with a 39-32 advantage. With the score 26-26, Sidor went on a personal 10-0 run to put the Rebels up 36-26 with 2:30 to go in the half.

“I think that she caught them a little winded there,” Saddle River Day head coach Danny Brown said. “She started opening up a little bit and started using her screens a lot more off the dribble. She can do that all day and she did it.”

In the final minute of Sunday’s contest, Sidor went 3-of-4 from the free-throw line to help Saddle River Day survive a spirited late effort by Morris Catholic.
