After losing a 1-0 heartbreaker to Hasbrouck Heights on opening day, the Weehawken High School softball team (2-1) has rallied for a 20-0 victory over Wellington and a 7-5 win over Wood-Ridge.
In these last two contests, Weehawken’s Samantha Chong has not made an out!
Against the Wood-Ridge Blue Devils, Chong batted 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a triple, a single, and garnering 4RBI’s in the win. She continued her torrid hitting versus the Wellington Panthers by going 4 for 4; with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and 3 RBI’s. Her combined total for 2 games is 8 for 8 with 4 doubles and 7 RBI’s. After the first three games she is batting a sizzling .667 for the Indians.
Sophie Chong went 5 for 5 with a HR and 5 RBI’s against Wallington. She also pitched 12 strikeouts in the victory. The versatile pitcher now has a total of 32 strikeouts in 3 games.
Another major contributor in the team’s great start has been the solid hitting of Jennifer Acosta. She is presently batting .500 with a HR and 3 RBI’s.
