The Lyndhurst boys edged rival Hasbrouck Heights for the boys title, 93-91, and Hasbrouck Heights returned the favor in a 131-114 girls victory. And both winning teams were led by athletes who earned honors as the most outstanding track performers.
Lyndhurst senior Peter Guerriero anchored the Golden Bears to a win in the 4-x-200 after his brilliant anchor in the 4-x-100 saved a third-place finish despite a miserable mid-race handoff.
Hasbrouck Heights senior Jillian DiGiacinto won the girls award, in part by leading the Aviators to wins in all four events she competed in. She anchored the meet-record-setting sprint medley team and ran the fastest 400 hurdles split of the day by four seconds in helping the Aviators set a second meet record.
