NJIC DIVISION CHAMPS: There were two unbeaten, outright division winners in the NJIC and four schools that shared titles.
Leonia went 16-0 in the Liberty to repeat as champion, and Bogota finished 16-0 in the Patriot.
In the Colonial, Glen Rock beat Rutherford in the teams’ division finale on Thursday, 20-25, 25-18, 25-19, to render them as co-champions at 15-1.
Saddle Brook and Wood-Ridge each ended up 17-1 in splitting the Meadowlands crown.
HUDSON RUNNER-UP: Secaucus made another run to the Hudson County championship match, this year as the No. 6 seed. The team knocked off No. 3 Snyder in the quarterfinals and No. 2 Bayonne in the semifinals, then fell to top-seeded Hudson Catholic in Saturday’s final, 25-13, 25-18.
Sophomore middle Gabby Pimentel had an outstanding tournament, with 18 kills, 12 blocks and 32 digs in four matches for the Patriots (15-10). Mariam Said and Jessie Gohde each had 26 digs and one big match on serve – Said landed four aces against Ferris, and Gohde served five versus Bayonne.
