LYNDHURST 9, FORT LEE 0: Lyndhurst sophomore Giulia Pezzolla struck for four goals and the top-seeded Golden Bears showed off their offensive balance Tuesday in a 9-0 victory over Fort Lee in the first round of the North 2, Group 2 girls soccer state tournament.
Mia Luna and Gabrielle Carrion each scored twice, Amanda Fulcher chipped in two assists, and Lyndhurst’s defense pitched a shutout to secure the team’s 16th victory.
MIDLAND PARK 6, SADDLE BROOK 0 (at Midland Park): The reliable one-two punch of Emma and Melissa Lein scored two goals apiece and the sixth-seeded Panthers silenced the Falcons to earn a trip back to the North 1, Group 1 quarterfinals.
SECAUCUS 3, NORTH ARLINGTON 0 (at North Arlington): The 12th-seeded Patriots recorded two second-half goals to upset the fifth seed in the opening round of North 2, Group 1. Jasmin Bujari, Damaris Rodriguez and Gianna Zena each scored for Secaucus.
