Bogota’s James Draney repeated his 2015 win in North 1, Group 1 by 65 meters over Cameron Gec of Wallkill Valley and the Buccaneers captured their first sectional title since 1993, unseating three-time defending champion Wallkill Valley, 38-72. His 16:13 clocking was the fastest by a Group 1 runner at Garret since Chris Moore of Emerson ran 16:11 in 1986.
