WOOD-RIDGE – The Wood-Ridge football team continues to add to its resume over the last few years as one of the most improved programs in Bergen County.
“We’re growing,” said Wood-Ridge head coach Charlie Trentacosti. “We played with teams that we haven’t in the past.”
But the growth on the program has not been just been in wins, but also stretched out to the rest of the school and the borough. “The community has really grown with the team and the crowds have continued to grow.”
For Wood-Ridge they came the closest they have in several years to make the state playoffs and were only one point from qualifying for the tournament.
With a 5-4 record to go with the 5-5 mark in 2015, the Blue Devils have won more games in the two seasons compared to the 2010-14 seasons.
And part of the renaissance for Wood-Ridge football has been four seniors who have played the last four years in Chris Musante, Kevin Castillo, Vincent Giordano and Greg Carmona. “Those guys are what our program is all about,” said Trentacosti.
