Growing up as a third-generation quarterback, Frank Quatrone hung on every word uttered by his dad, Frank, and grandpa, Anthony. The men and their tales of gridiron glory inspired him to follow in their considerable footsteps.

They cheered from the stands at MetLife Stadium as the senior signal-caller ran for 295 yards and three touchdowns to lead Hasbrouck Heights to a 30-12 triumph over New Milford on Dec. 4 in the North 1, Group 1 final.

Not only did The Record Male Athlete of the Week account for 350 yards of total offense, but the Aviators’ 11-0 championship season gave him plenty to boast about at holiday get-togethers.

“We’re always talking football at family parties or whenever we see each other,” the senior said. “We always talk about whose team did this and who did this. My grandpa always teases me. His best game, he went 13 for 14 for whatever it was, 200, 300 yards. It’s nice always talking to them about that. The conversation is always football.”

You would never guess that there was so much going on his life away from the field. Quatrone calls this point of his life the “whole what-am-I-going-to-do-when-I’m-older” phase. Will he play football next year? Does he want to study criminology with an eye on a career in law enforcement? Does he want to go far away or stay close to home?

For now, Quatrone is keeping his options open.

“I’m not exactly sure what I want to do,” he said. “Applying for college, getting ready for college, it’s been a lot. It’s a tough time for a student. You have to pick where you want to go, what you want to do, and that affects you for the rest of your life.”
