FROM RECORD SPORTS / VARSITY ACES:

TWO NJIC bowling teams brought long winning streaks into the season;

Lyndhurst co-ed, 88 straight NJIC Meadowlands matches — The Golden Bears are 3-0 this season after Thursday’s 7-0 victory over St. Mary, in which they got seven 200-plus games out of a possible 12. Last to beat them: Becton, 5-0*, on Jan. 24, 2011 (*2-game match).
Pompton Lakes boys, 47 NJIC Colonial matches, Jan. 22, 2013 through Jan. 21, 2016… Westwood girls, 28 Big North matches, which ended on Jan. 9, 2015.

Congratulations to Pompton Lakes junior David Neil on joining the North Jersey 300 List. In the Cardinals’ NJIC Colonial Division opener, a 7-0 win versus Glen Rock at Parkway Lanes on Dec. 8, the right-hander tossed a perfect game as part of a 703 series. That came five days after teammate Nick Cilento began the season with a 296–707 in the Tom Irwin Memorial Crusader Classic at Bowler City!
