Bogota at it again

Bogota (10-3) has qualified for the Bergen County Jamboree for the third time in four years and 19th time in coach Jay Mahoney’s 40 seasons. Senior Argenis Soriano, a four-year starter, “is the straw that stirs the Buc drinks,” Mahoney said. Senior Kenjiee Polanco is averaging 16.4 points, senior three-year starter Ben Lukabu 13.0 and sophomore Ashanti Caviness 12.4 and “is the most athletic player I have ever coached in my 40 years,” the coach said.

 

Cresskill streak at 4

Rebuilding Cresskill (8-6) carries a four-game winning streak into Tuesday’s NJIC Patriot Division showdown against first-place and No. 12 Saddle River Day (14-0). During the streak, Kristian Radovich averaged 16.8 points and fellow junior F Chris Tracy 12.3 for the reigning North, 1, Group 1 champs.

 

Becton makes a run

Becton (7-7) has won four of its last five games and has a chance to produce a winning season. Nick Monahan has led the charge. The senior G had a quartet of 20-point games and averaged 23.4 points during that stretch, including 27 points and 11 rebounds in last Tuesday’s 79-53 victory over North Arlington.

 Senior G Dasan Jones hit a quartet of three-pointers and scored 43 in last week’s 69-57 victory over New Milford. … Pompton Lakes opened the 49th Passaic County Tournament with Saturday’s 51-33, play-in victory over Lakeland, with senior F Nick Ambroggio scoring a game-high 19. … Senior Michael DiGiovanni hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 30 seconds remaining and sank two free throws with eight seconds left to lift Saddle Brook to last week’s 63-60 upset of St. Mary.
