Dan Binderman scored a late-game goal to lead third-seeded Cresskill to a 1-0 win over seventh-seeded Boonton, in the semifinals of the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 tournament in Cresskill.

The teams remained scoreless through the first 40 minutes, and until Josh Kim of Cresskill lined up for a corner kick with 15 minutes remaining.

“Josh is a very tough defender,” said Cresskill head coach Tim Serbe. “He’s very accurate in terms of placement of a kick.”

From the right side of the Boonton (16-4-1) goaltender, Kim sailed a kick into the penalty area. Dan Binderman came up for the header, finding the back of the net and tallying the lone game goal.

Goaltender Gianpaolo Colannino of Cresskill (18-4) made seven saves to earn the shutout.

“Gianpaolo is the backbone of our defense,” Serbe said. “We don’t let up goals, both because of our goalkeeper and our defense is very stingy.”

Cresskill will host fifth-seeded Waldwick in the sectional final on Friday.

“It’s a great group of guys,” Serbe said. “We go to every game like it’s another because they just want to play, and that’s the beauty of it.”
