MOST VALUABLE PLAYER –  North Jersey Interscholastic Conference

Colleen McQuillen, Cresskill, Jr.

McQuillen is the state’s leading scorer, averaging 29.6 points per game for Cresskill. The Bergen County squad had to replace most of its starting lineup from last year and that left a lot of responsibility on McQuillen’s shoulder. She’s taken on the expanded role and excelled, proving she’s one of the top scoring threats in the state. Her numbers aren’t inflated either. Cresskill has needed her to compete in all of its games, especially going up against bigger schools like Westwood and Immaculate Heart. McQuillen dropped a season-high 37 points on Westwood, but her most impressive game might have been her 20-point showing against Immaculate Heart. Not far behind those two games was a 37-point outing against Pascack Valley. Add up those totals and McQuillen has come through with an average of 30.7 points per game against teams that won sectional titles last season. Cresskill is a two-time defending North 1, Group 1 champion itself and has dreams of playing in the group final this year. McQuillen will once again be the key piece in that run. She isn’t afraid of anyone and she’ll have another chance to go toe to toe with a sectional champion when Cresskill plays Saddle River Day on Thursday.
