Izabella Frezzo
Becton senior, 107 pounds
Frezzo became the first state champion in school history by defeating Belleville’s Alisa Safforld, 6-2, in the final. That capped an undefeated season for the Becton captain, who repeated as the BCWCA Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Jenna Filieri
Lodi/Immaculate Conception sophomore, 143 pounds
Filieri advanced to the state championships for the first time after scoring back-to-back wins in the Region North wrestlebacks. She finished third in a loaded BCWCA field at 153 pounds.
Maria Taseva
Elmwood Park senior, 180 pounds
Taseva gave the Crusaders their first state finalist since 1964, when the school was known as East Paterson. Her other claim to fame is being the first three-time state medalist in Bergen County history
