Colonial Division is tight at the top: Glen Rock, Butler and Pompton Lakes each sit at 13-3 in the standings of the Colonial Division. Glen Rock currently holds the higher ground, defeating both teams this spring while Butler scathed past Pompton Lakes. They are all scheduled to face each other again in what should be an exciting end to the season. — PJ Potter

Cavos twirl two shutouts: Emerson Boro not one, but two shutouts this past week. Holding Cliffside Parj and Hasbrouck Heights scoreless, the Cavaliers have won three straight games to jump to 11-6. Jake Falotico threw six scoreless against Hasbrouck Heights with four strikeouts, while Derek MacKenzie fired five shutout against Cliffside Park with six punch-outs. — PJ Potter

Garber powers up: Dwight-Englewood’s Everett Garber cranked four home runs this past week, bringing his season total to five. Garber’s registered 10 RBIs in his last three games, batting 8-for-8 with four walks and eight runs scored in those contests. He’s now hitting .524 this spring with 18 runs. — PJ Potter

Gaels are streaking: St. Mary (Ruth.) is hot. Winners of five straight, the Gaels’ schedule hasn’t been easy, taking down Pompton Lakes, Emerson Boro, Weehawken, Harrison and Dwight-Englewood during the streak to outscore its opponent 46-13 over that span. — PJ Potter

NJIC can’t-miss games (May 6-May 12)

May 9: Pompton Lakes vs. Glen Rock, 4: These squads have competed as the top teams in the conference this spring. Each club has fired six shutouts this year, including a 10-0 win for Glen Rock over the Cardinals on April 12.

May 11: Waldwick vs. Hasbrouck Heights, 4: In the teams’ first matchup since 2015, both squads are looking to using this game to catapult itself in the standings. Hovering around .500 for most the of year each, these Group 1 programs are gritty and historically corral big victories when needed.
