Baseball Players of the Week
Joe Frei, Hawthorne, Sr., P/OF: Frei’s had a marvelous senior season. With 84 strikeouts, Frei tossed a strong outing against Pompton Lakes on May May 17. He struck out 12 batters in six innings and allowed one run. At the plate, he picked up a pair of multi-hit games, scoring five runs.
Michael Rizzo, Lyndhurst, Jr., INF/P: Rizzo tied for the most hits in the conference this week with eight. He had two separate three-RBI performances, doing so against Bloomfield and North Arlington to lead Lyndhurst to a 3-1 week. He clobbered two home runs, bringing his season batting average to .351.
