NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Defender:
Amanda Davidoff, Glen Rock, Jr.
Davidoff is a central defensive midfield, but her play against a very strong Hawthrone offense was critical to her team’s 2-0 shutout win in their season opener on Tuesday. She was all over the field for Glen Rock, helping to lock down their opposing midfielders and forwards all game long. Her play helped Glen Rock control the midfield and thwart Hawthrone’s chances near goal time and time again. Defenders Ava Lautermilch and Vivian Ferreri were also impressive for Glen Rock in the big win.
Goalkeeper:
Elise Brevil, New Milford, Sr.
Brevil was a steady presence at net for New Milford last fall and has continued that momentum into a great performance in the team’s season opener. Brevil had 10 saves in a 3-0 shutout victory over Midland Park, one of her best performances in her career thus far.
Offense:
Forward: Lia Cruz, North Arlington, Sr.
One of the NJIC’s most lethal scorers, Cruz was outstanding in North Arlington’s first two games of the season. She’s tallied seven goals and two assists thus far, including a jaw-dropping five-goal, one assist performance against Union City on Saturday. With her leading the charge on offense, North Arlington will once again be the team to beat in the National Division.
Midfielder: Caroline Pringle, Eastern Christian, So.
Eastern Christian is off to a hot start this season and Pringle has played a huge role in that. She opened the season with a hat trick against Lodi on Monday, then posted a goal and assist in a victory over Manchester Regional. Her play has helped Eastern Christian control the middle third of the field and dominate on both ends of the field.
