NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE
Football Players of the Week
Luke Cerulli, Rutherford, Sr., LB
Cerulli had a big impact in Rutherford’s 28-20 comeback win over Hawthorne in the NJIC semifinals. Cerulli racked up 15 tackles, including five for loss and also intercepted a pass with less than two minutes remaining as Hawthorne was in the red zone looking to potentially tie the game.
Michael Napolitano, Hasbrouck Heights, So., WR/DB
Napolitano was the go-to guy for senior quarterback Frankie Billings in Hasbrouck Heights’ 28-0 win over New Milford on Friday in New Milford. Napolitano generated six receptions for 95 yards and three touchdowns. He additionally totaled 37 yards rushing on four carries, 35 yards on three punt returns and five tackles (one solo).
Eneaz Wells, Weehawken, Jr., WR/DB
It’s hard to believe we haven’t selected Wells as a Player of the Week yet, but that time has come. The junior standout produced four carries for 102 yards, two catches for 25 yards and a touchdown, and a pick six to go with six tackles in Weehawken’s 35-15 Union Division semifinal-round win over Manchester Regional on Thursday in Weehawken.
