Defender: Sophia Veloso, North Arlington, Sr.

Veloso has been an excellent leader for North Arlington’s back line this season and a player who serves as a second coach on the field. She’s taken the other two sophomore defenders – Emily Carrera and Skyler Crudele – under her wing, and they’ve blossomed into quality starters. Veloso plays with excellent technique and knowledge of the game, and does a great job of shutting down what the opposing offenses does best. In the last week, Veloso and this defense have posted back-to-back shutouts against Harrison, with their first matchup against the Blue Tide being a 3-0 victory at Red Bull Arena.

Goalkeeper: Hannah Leegwater, Eastern Christian, So.

Leegwater splits time with junior goalie Skyy Lynn Marcano and both players have provided a steady presence in front of net. Leegwater has developed nicely this season and is becoming more of a leader in the back line. The sophomore posted eight saves to help her team earn a clean sheet against Butler, then posted 15 saves in a loss to Glen Rock.
