NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE 2023 SEASON IN REVIEW
Player of the Year: Priscilla Chow, Cresskill, So.
Chow, a sophomore, was a perfect 15-0 in team matches for Cresskill this season as she helped the Cougars reach the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 semifinals.Each of Chow’s wins were in straight sets including nine by 6-0, 6-0 shutouts.
Chow also made the final round at first singles at the BCWCA Fall Invitational where she fell to state singles tournament quarterfinalist, Britney Lee of Ridgefield Park
Team of the Year: Glen Rock
Glen Rock had a strong season in 2023 winning the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 state tournament.
The Panthers went 14-2, and among their 14 wins, 13 were by 5-0 scores. They nearly made the Group 1 final as they fell in a tight match to Glen Ridge, 3-2, in the semifinals down at Mercer County Park.
Glen Rock’s only other loss this year was to Dwight-Englewood, and it went 10-0 within the NJIC-Colonial against the likes of Eastern Christian, Pompton Lakes, Garfield, Lodi, Elmwood Park, and Hawthorne.Glen Rock has won the last pair of N1G1 titles, and this time its most recent one this season was with a new head coach, Scott Reddin.
