Boys North 1, Group 1 Team Champion: Hasbrouck Heights

Team MVP: Aidan Morrow, Jr.

You don’t score 164 team points without a full team effort from all disciplines, but Morrow’s impact in both the open events and relays proved to be a difference maker. Including relays, Morrow contributed 36 points as Hasbrouck Heights secured back-to-back sectional titles. The Hasbrouck Heights junior won the 1600 in 4:22.65, nearly breaking his older brother Evan’s school record (4:22.46), along with capturing a sectional title the 3200 (9:51.63). He also contributed to a 1-2 finish in the 800, as Ryan Ober (2:00.20) and Morrow (2:01.25) finished first and second respectively. Morrow also ran on a 4×800 relay that secured a sliver medal (8:26.51).

Girls North 1, Group 1: Hasbrouck Heights

Team MVP: Lexy Samperi

The senior Samperi won all four of her events at Livingston to compile 40 points and lift the Aviators to their fourth sectional crown in a row and eighth in the last 11 tries. It’s also the 10th all-time title for Hasbrouck Heights, which scored 177.5 points to overwhelm Wallkill Valley (66) and Kinnelon (43.25) among a field that saw six more squads score more than 20 points. Samperi dropped a PR 12.39 in the 100 dash, PR 25.75 in the 200, a PR 15.33 in the 100 hurdles, and a season-best 18-9 ½ in the long jump.
