Players of the Week
Matt Barile, Butler, Sr., RB/LB
Barile made the New Milford defense pay in a 41-7 victory on Friday in Butler. The senior racked up nine carries for 121 yards and two scores while also pitching in with a 47-yard reception. On defense, he pitched in with five tackles (one solo) from his linebacker position.
Emmanuel De La Hoz, Weehawken, Jr., RB
De La Hoz was a touchdown machine in Weehawken’s 40-14 win over Wallington. De La Hoz had 14 carries for 142 yards and three touchdowns and caught 2 passes for 38 yards and another score. His touchdown runs covered 7, 15 and 63 yards and his touchdown reception was 29 yards.
Ben Lopez, Wood-Ridge, Sr., RB/DB
Lopez had a strong offensive and defense game in Wood-Ridge’s 21-7 win over Bogota. He had 15 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown on offense and racked up 12 tackles, including one sack and three tackles for loss, and recorded an interception on defense.
Michael Napolitano, Hasbrouck Heights, Jr., RB/DB
Napolitano earned Week 3 Player of the Week honors and he gets the same recognition following Week 5 thanks to a dominant effort in a 41-14 road win over Secaucus on Friday. Napolitano finished the game with 217 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. He also added an 18-yard receiving score and impressive defensive numbers – seven tackles (three solo), three tackles for loss and two sacks.
