NORTH JERSEY INTERSCHOLASTIC CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Nick Atme, Glen Rock, Sr., QB/DB

Atme helped Glen Rock clinch a spot in the NJIC championship game as Glen Rock defeated St. Mary (Ruth.), 50-33. Atme threw for 126 yards, but did a ton of damage with his legs, rushing for 57 yards and four touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in the second quarter.

Tyree Gunthrope, Manchester Regional, Jr., RB/LB

Gunthrope had a career day as he helped Manchester Regional improve to 4-4 with a 49-27 win over Lodi. Gunthrope had 19 carries for 220 yards and four touchdowns. It was Gunthrope‘s second game rushing for at least 100 yards and the first time he’s eclipsed the 200-yard plateau.

Viktor Kanjuk, Lyndhurst, Sr., RB/LB

Kanjuk has made an impact in the backfield and on special teams in a limited fashion this fall, but his strongest presence has been felt defensively. The senior racked up seven tackles (six solo), three sacks and two tackles for loss in Lyndhurst’s 31-6 victory against Pompton Lakes on Saturday. Kanjuk has 20 tackles (18 solo), seven sacks, six tackles for loss and a forced fumble in his last three games.

Talib McCullough, Garfield, So., QB

The sophomore had his best passing game of the season in Garfield’s 33-0 win over North Arlington on Friday in North Arlington. McCullough finished the contest with 194 yards and three scores on 8-of-12 passing. The effort puts his season touchdown to interception ratio at 7-6.
