Chad McConnell, Pompton Lakes, So., 165
McConnell put together a strong freshman campaign and his sophomore year is looking like a dandy off the bat. McConnell picked up a quartet of bonus-point victories over the weekend, including pins of Jefferson’s Christopher Perez (0:28), Cedar Grove’s George Dakar (0:51), and Northern Highlands’ Quinn Sureda (3:08). He won by injury default over Tenafly’s Benyamin Zafrir as well.
Sutter Totato, New Milford, Sr., 150
Totaro has wrestled at three different weights this year already and he wrestled in two different classes on Saturday. The senior defeated Pascack Hills’ Aaron Walker by 3-0 decision and then Bound Brook product Justin Silva 4-3. Totaro added a pin of Demarest’s Daniel Im in 1:00 and now sits at 6-0 on the year.
