Chris Ahlborn, Pompton Lakes, Sr., 126
Ahlborn walked it off for the Cardinals in their 36-33 win over Manchester Regional on Saturday. The match came down to 126 and Ahlborn gutted out a 7-6 decision over one of the Falcons’ standouts in Roberto Vargas. Manchester Regional had won the previous three bouts before Ahlborn’s heroics. Ahlborn is now 21-6 on the season.
Mateo Toledo, Hasbrouck Heights, Fr., 120
In Friday’s NJIC Championship win for the Aviators, Toledo had one of the team’s signature victories. Toledo grinded out a 14-11 decision over one of Manchester Regional’s hammers in Ayden Cruz in what was one of the match’s many coin flip bouts. The win brings Toledo to 21-6.
