NJIC boys cross country Runner of the Year & other postseason honors, 2025

Another terrific season of cross-country is in books.

NJ.com combed through every conference to recognize the standout runners, teams, and coaches who left their mark during the 2025 season.

Below are our boys postseason honors for the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference.

Runner of the Year: Calvin Daou, Leonia, Sr.

Daou emerged as one of the state’s most improved runners this fall, powering Leonia’s success with a string of standout performances. He opened the season with three straight victories—winning the Season Opener Invitational and the first two NJIC batch meets—before placing second in the C race at the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational, where he ran a personal-best 15:45.10. Daou continued his strong form with a runner-up finish in the Varsity D race at the Shore Coaches Invitational, clocking 16:46 on Holmdel Park’s challenging course. He went on to capture the NJIC Colonial Division title, finish second in the Bergen County Group C championship, and place 10th at the Bergen County Meet of Champions. Daou closed his season with a runner-up finish in North 1, Group 2, a ninth-place showing at the Group 2 state meet, and 89th at the Meet of Champions.
