Nico Nipitella, Hasbrouck Heights, Sr., 132

Nipitella won the 132-pound crown at the Frank Dawson Holiday Tournament on Saturday in Garfield. The standout quarterback during the fall pinned College Achieve Paterson Charter’s Jesiah Shade (1:12), defeated Garfield’s Anthony Harker by 20-8 major decision, and then beat Westwood star junior Joe Eboli by 11-7 decision.

Josh Vasquez, Manchester Regional, Sr., 150

Vasquez is picking up where he left off last year as one of the key cogs in Manchester Regional’s NJIC runner-up campaign. The senior dominated on his way to a 150-pound title at the Ramsey Invitational on Saturday with a technical fall (16-0, 1:30) vs. Christian Jung of Lakeland, a 12-1 major decision win against North Bergen’s Erik Roberto, and a 16-3 major decision victory over Old Tappan’s Sal Tropea.

Dean Silva, Lyndhurst-North Arlington, Jr., 190

Silva first-period decked his way to the title at 190 pounds at Saturday’s Harry McLaughlin Invitational in Mahwah. The junior upper weight pinned Northern Highlands’ Nicholas Maltezos (0:51) in the quarterfinals, Leonia-Palisades Park’s Frankie Ajxollip (1:54) in the semifinals, and then Passaic Valley senior state qualifier Richie Breitwieser (0:15) in the final.
