Everett Bell, Becton-Wood-Ridge, Sr., 215

Bell’s unbeaten season continued on Saturday with a 215-pound title at the 7th annual Buccaneer Classic in Belleville. Bell won by technical fall over Leonia-Palisades Park’s Tristan Perri, then pinned Lyndhurst-North Arlington’s Ryan Kropp in 3:17, then beat Ralph Langone over Mendham by 4-2 decision in the final. Bell accepted a forfeit against Elmwood Park on Thursday. Bell was last year’s 215-pound Buccaneer Classic champ, he took third at 190 as a sophomore, and eighth at 175 as a freshman.

Gabe Jang, Leonia-Palisades Park, Sr., 285

Jang was the 285-pound champion at the Buccaneer Classic on Saturday. Jang pinned Lyndhurst-North Arlington heavyweight Matt Jarvis (0:12), then pinned Mendham’s Chris Montana (0:49) and then majored Becton-Wood-Ridge product Abdul Elkeshk in an 8-0 final in the championship bout. On Thursday in a dual, Jang pinned Manchester Regional’s Max Martinez in 47 seconds and accepted a forfeit two days earlier against Saddle Brook-Lodi. Jang was last year’s heavyweight champion at the Buccaneer Classic.

Jack Lorper, Hawthorne, Sr., 132

Lorper is off to a hot start in his senior campaign with the Bears and his 132-pound crown at the Battle at the Brook Tournament on Saturday has helped make that happen. Lorper pinned Bergenfield’s Jon Revi in 48 seconds to start the event, then decked Bernards’ Ben Eich (0:16), then teched Passaic’s Jamai Howell (17-0, 1:37), and in the finals he etched Nico Cassano of Rutherford (16-0, 3:41). In duals on Tuesday and Thursday, Lorper respectively pinned Jett Narvaez of Glen Rock (1:09) and Charles Baker of Emerson-Park Ridge (0:41).
