1,000 points

Three players in the NJIC reached the 1,000-point mark of their careers this past week.

Leading the state in 3-pointers (58), Matt Kennedy of St. Mary (Ruth.) notched his 1,000th career point against Glen Rock in a 15-point, 10-rebound effort. He’s gone for 20 or more points in nine games this year, averaging 21 per night.

John Piccirillo of Emerson Boro led the Cavaliers to a win over Wallington on Jan. 14, securing his 1,000th career point in a 32-point, 12-rebound effort. He is averaging 24.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.6 steals this winter

Christian Nario of Wood-Ridge scored 33 points against Leonia on Jan. 12 to capture his 1,000th career point. It was his third 30-point of the year, and he is averaging 24 points and nine boards per contest.

Another triple-double

Dwight-Englewood has a budding star in sophomore Dylan Stone. He posted his second triple-double of the season in the iwn over Saddle River Day on Jan. 12, producing 10 points, rebounds, and assists each. This season, Stone averages 16.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.8 steals.

Nine in a row

North Arlington has won nine games in a row to take command of the Patriot Division. Elijah Zaldivar’s 19 points per game leads the way.

Freshman steps up

Paterson Charter freshman Tysean Scott has been on a solid run as of late. Averaging 12.3 points this season, Scott has a pair of 20-point games over his last five efforts.

Dynamic duo in Park Ridge

The Owls have two players averaging over 17 points per game this season. Sean Lustig is good for 17.5 per night and Sam Fasola is going for 17.4 as Park Ridge is 7-4 in the standings.
