Shot put: Evan Yuzon, Glen Rock, Jr.
Glen Rock’s Evan Yuzon owned the shot put runway from the opening meet of the winter to the final throw of the season. The senior held the state lead for nearly the entire campaign and continued to rise to the moment when the stakes were highest. Yuzon amassed 12 victories, including titles at the Bergen County Relays, the NJIC Championships, the Group 1 Relays, the North 1, Group 1 sectional, and the Group 1 state meet. He saved his biggest throw for the Meet of Champions, launching a massive 60-9¼ personal best to secure the state title. The mark extended his state lead and made him the only New Jersey athlete to surpass 60 feet this winter.
