Here are the Players of the Week for the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference through Sept. 7.
Pedro Barreto Reis, Harrison, Sr.
Harrison’s offense put up big numbers with six goals in both of its wins over Dwight-Englewood and Notre Dame. Barreto Reis hit the scoresheet in both wins. He combined for two goals and four assists.
Brandon Betances, Saddle Brook, Sr.
Betances has been hot to start the year for Saddle Brook, which is 2-0. He scored a pair of goals in both of his team’s wins against Wood-Ridge and Lyndhurst. He also added an assist in the second game.
Elidon Dardha, Lodi, Sr.
Lodi fell in its first game to St. Joseph (Mont.) but rebounded with two wins. Dardha had a tremendous game in the team’s 4-3 win over Eastern Christian.
Louie Hayasaki, Leonia, Fr.
The freshman had an outstanding debut. In Leonia’s 4-1 win over Garfield, Hayasaki collected three assists.
Christopher Jean-Baptiste, Manchester Regional, So.
After a loss to Hasbrouck Heights, Jean-Baptiste has erupted for Manchester Regional. He posted hat tricks in both wins over Wood-Ridge and Butler and also added an assist.
Ryan Leone, Emerson Boro, Sr.
Emerson Boro tied Glen Rock, 1-1, in its first game of the season before edging Pompton Lakes, 2-1, two days later. Leone scored all three goals for his team. He had a career-high 17 goals last fall and is on his way to hitting that again.
Matthew Martinez, Hasbrouck Heights, Fr.
The freshman has stepped into the center back role tremendously so far. He’s been a key piece of a Hasbrouck Heights defense that has allowed one goal in three games.
Caden Mclveen, Midland Park, Jr.
It has taken just two games for Mclveen to set a new career high in goals. The junior scored twice and added an assist in a win over Palisades Park. Five days later, he added three more goals and another assist against Paterson Charter. Those five goals already have surpassed last year’s total of four.
Lucas Rodriguez, Secaucus, Sr.
Secaucus is playing well and has built a 3-0 record after a win over Bogota on Tuesday. The senior already has three goals and three assists across wins over Hawthorne, Saddle River Day and Bogota.
Max Zagorski, Becton, Jr.
Becton started 2026 strong with an 8-2 win over New Milford. Zagorski recorded three goals and an assist in the victory. It set a new single-game career high for the junior.
