Here are the Players of the Week from the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference based on games from Tuesday Sept. 8 through Saturday Sept. 12.
Danny Milanov, Secaucus, Sr.
Secaucus topped Bogota and Weehawken last week by a combined score of 7-2. Milanov scored twice in the second half to turn the tables in the 2-1 victory against Bogota. He struck again for two goals two days later in the win over Weehawken. Milanov is halfway to last year’s career-high eight goals.
Desart Goxhaj, Lyndhurst, So.
Lyndhurst fell to North Arlington, 2-1, but edged Ridgefield, 3-2, two days later. Goxhaj had a big performance in the victory with two goals. It was the first multi-goal game of his career and it helped him set a new single-season career high with three.
Jakob Gwisczc, North Arlington, Sr.
North Arlington earned two more one-goal victories last week against Lyndhurst and Wood-Ridge. Gwisczc was in goal for both games. He allowed just one goal across the two matchups and he combined for 12 saves. He posted a five-save shutout against Wood-Ridge.
Jefferson Guerra, Palisades Park, Sr.
Palisades Park earned two 1-0 victories last week against Hawthorne and Bogota. Guerra was in goal for both games. He stopped seven shots against Hawthorne and six against Bogota two days later. The senior is up to 34 saves in four games in 2026.
Emiliano Galindo, Elmwood Park, Jr.
Elmwood Park’s defense has been tough to beat. Though the team fell to Rutherford, 1-0, last week, it bounced back two days later to blank Garfield, 1-0. Galindo came up big with three saves in the victory.
Fabian Palacios, Harrison, So
Palacios is an unselfish workhorse on a Harrison team that’s undefeated entering the new week. He helped lead the team to a 3-1 win over Emerson Boro and then a 5-0 victory over Park Ridge two days later. This Harrison defense has allowed four total goals this season.
Emerson Goldfinger, Saddle River Day, So
Saddle River Day took care of both of its games last week against Eastern Christian and Hawthorne by a combined score of 7-1. Goldfinger scored a goal in the game against Eastern Christian. The next day, he doubled down and scored twice against Hawthorne.
Luke Joshi, Cresskill, So.
Joshi helped lead two tremendous team efforts for Cresskill in its 2-0 win over Hawthorne Christian and 1-0 win against Butler. Joshi scored the lone goal in that game against Butler.
Max Silcock, Glen Rock, Jr.
Silcock scored a big goal in his team’s 2-1 win over Leonia. He stepped up again two days later with two goals and an assist against Dwight-Englewood, a 4-0 victory for his team. The junior has already set a new career high for goals in a season with four.
Alex Gibas, Wallington, Sr.
Wallington is having a great start to its season and it posted a pair of shutouts last week against Pompton Lakes and Waldwick. Gibas is the team’s center back and a captain. He scored goals in each of the team’s wins. The senior has already matched his career high of three goals while still controlling the team’s back line.
