North Jersey Super 20 girls volleyball rankings as counties heat up
The Bergen and Passaic County girls volleyball tournaments will hold their quarterfinals this weekend. And as county play is heating up, teams and players are stepping up.
The top two seeds in those respective tournaments, River Dell and Passaic Tech, remain 1-2 in the latest North Jersey Super 20 rankings, and the only loss between them happened when the Hawks held off Passaic Tech in five sets on Sept. 26.
Other top-five ranked teams are getting contributions from players who recently surpassed career milestones. Ramapo senior Sara Wingfield is the latest member of the North Jersey 1,000-kill club after reaching the mark in an Oct. 8 win at Wayne Hills. Immaculate Heart setter Kristen Lee eclipsed 1,000 career assists at the end of September, right around the same time that Waldwick’s Gabby Rosato did the same.
Plenty remains on the line, including the Bergen Invitational Tournament title. That event will hold quarterfinals on Oct. 17, and Secaucus begins defense of its Hudson County crown later this week.
