Glen Rock HS

STAFF WRITER / The Record

Last year: 23-1; No. 4

Marquee game: Oct. 10 vs. New Milford

Best assets: The Panthers have only seven players back on the varsity roster that won the Group 2 state title in 2012, but it’s a bunch that knows how to lead. Glen Rock has one of the top keepers in North Jersey in senior Sarah Gross. She trained all summer and reported to preseason training in the best shape of anyone on the team. Seniors Taryn Dwyer and Rachel Gross are also expected to play key roles. Another plus for the Panthers? Finally having a home field all season after basically playing and practicing the past two years on the road.

Biggest concerns:
It was a magical 2012 for Glen Rock, and the Panthers enter this season with an even bigger bull’s-eye than usual on their backs. They will have to get used to taking every opponent’s best shot every game. A lot of players were successful on the JV level, but it’s a different level of intensity on varsity. The young Panthers will have to adjust quickly.
