LYNDHURST – The softball field for Lyndhurst could use a fence. Not just that it makes the game better, but they’re going to need a place to start hanging the banners.

The Golden Bears, often overlooked in North Jersey, won their first sectional championship with a dramatic 3-2 win over Madison in the North 2, Group 2 final Friday.

There are only two Bergen County public school softball teams still alive in the 2014 state tournament. Indian Hills is one — not a surprise —  it is the defending Group 3 champion. Not many people outside of Lyndhurst would have pegged the Golden Bears as being the other.
