BAYONNE — The Secaucus girls cross-country team warmed up for defense of its North 2, Group 1 title Saturday by finishing second to Union City at the Hudson County cross-country championships at Stephen R. Gregg Bayonne County Park. Union City beat the Patriots, 52-74, with North Bergen sixth with 132 points.
Roshni Patel led the Patriots in seventh place at 20:24, with Samantha Nesheiwat 10th at 21:02, Mehek Parikh 16th and Victoria De la Rosa 20th. Vanessa Felice led North Bergen with a ninth-place finish.
Matt Gonzalez of North Bergen (16:21) took second in the boys race, about 150 meters behind winner Rafael Hernandez of Memorial.
North Bergen was third in the team results with 82 points, behind St. Peter’s Prep and Memorial. Secaucus teammates Shaun O’Brien and Sondy Polanco were 12th and 13th to lead Secaucus to a seventh-place finish.
